The Inspiration:
In the summer of 2010 the Monroe County Library remodeled and installed new carpet and tiles. Jim Samson, a local printmaker found discarded scrap tiles from the renovation and started using them as lino cut blocks. He showed them to John Wilson at Pygmalion’s Art Supplies (who is also a printmaker) and he also started recycling the tile scraps. John used a scrap tile to create a print for the library titled the Reading Tree. Jane Otten saw some of the prints that were being made from the scraps of tile and suggested that Pygmalion’s do a workshop at the library for the library patrons. Thus Remodel + Recycle = Art was born!
